Costa Rica Travel Video: Irazu Volcano National Park, Central Volcanic Mountain Range Conservation Area <br /> <br /> Location: Central Volcanic Mountain Range, 52 kilometers Northeast of the city of San Jose and 31 kilometers Northeast of the city of Cartago. The Irazu Volcano , Turrialba Volcano, along with the Talamanca mountain range, form Costa Rica’s volcanic plutonic arc. Irazu volcano has mass estimated at approximately 500 km3. Its formation dates to the last 140 thousand years, which makes it relatively recent. Irazu Volcano National Park has a semi-arid environment and cold temperatures typical of high elevations, and numerous craters at its peak. Irazu Volcano forms part of the Central Volcanic Mountain Range, an axis that encompasses other active volcanoes in the country | Poas, Barva and Turrialba. Irazu Volcano National Park is the highest volcano in Costa Rica and, is one of the best known because it is easy toget to fron San Jose and close to Cartago. On a clear day it is possible to see both the Caribbean and Pacific coastlines.

Costa Rica Travel Video: Gandoca-Manzanillo, National Wildlife RefugenLa Amistad Conservation Area, Caribbean Sector<br /> <br /> Location: Limon province, Talamanca canton, Sixaola district, 70 km. from the city of Limon. Gandoca-Manzanillo, National Wildlife Refuge marine-coastal environments include coral reefs, sand beaches, fossil reef cliffs, estuaries, mangrove swamps, soft beds, rock platforms and beds of marine phanerogams. The only natural population of mangrove swamp oysters on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast exists in this swamp. Mixed refuge, 80% is private property and the rest state property. It protects a variety of wetlands (holillo swamps, mangrove swamps, swamp forests, lagoons), algae and coral reefs unique to the country, turtle spawning (leatherback, loggerhead, hawksbill and green turtles) and beautiful beaches. Included in the RAMSAR list of wetlands of world importance.
